Top 10 barbie tips from Fresh TV
- Clean and grease your barbecue immediately after use. That way it's always ready to go.
- Preheat barbecue plate in advance.
- Always bring your meat to room temperature before cooking (take it out of the fridge an hour before you want to cook it). It will cook more evenly as the meat is relaxed.
- Brush meat lightly with oil and season before cooking.
- If cooking delicate items such as fish, or foods that are likely to stick, then place a sheet of baking paper on the hot plate first. The meat will still brown through the paper, but without sticking.
- Have all your equipment such as tongs and a clean plate to put your cooked food on ready before you start cooking.
- Turn steaks and seafood once only.
- Rest meat and fish on a warm plate covered with foil for at least half the cooking time. This ensures the meat relaxes and the juices are absorbed back into the meat.
- Buy quality produce and let their flavours speak for themselves. Keep it simple.
10. Always have a well-stocked esky nearby.
