Heat lightly salted water in a wide saucepan.
Add the spaghetti strands and cook till soft (al dente).
Peel and thinly slice onion and garlic. After the spaghetti is cooked, drain the water and set aside on a plate.
Add olive oil to saucepan. Add thinly sliced onion, slit chilli and garlic and cook until golden brown.
Add the cooked spaghetti and stir. Take out the chilli.
Add the pesto sauce on top.
